BREAKING NEWS: The Senator Was Sleeping With The Lobbyist

By Lord_Vegas

The Hinzsight Report has uncovered an anonymous source which has provided irrefutable evidence that a US Senator with presidential aspirations has been sleeping with a lobbyist who had business before that senator’s committee. Both the senator and the lobbyist are married.

This is a clear ethics violation at the least, and raises serious questions as to whether federal laws have been broken.

As an influential member of the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Diane Feinstein routinely reviewed and accepted contracts from Perini Corp. and URS Corporation, both owned by Richard C. Blum, a man with whom she was sleeping on a regular basis. While carrying on this personal relationship with Blum, Feinstein was responsible for approving billions of dollars of military construction contracts for the two companies.

It is known that Blum personally profited millions of dollars from those contracts, and Feinstein, under California law, is reported to have shared equally in those profits.

Feinstein has since removed herself from the MILCON subcommittee citing her desire to remove any appearance of impropriety. Critics have noted that her resignation from the committee as, now a moot point, as Blum divested himself of his interests in the military construction company in 2005. He still, on the other hand, retains interest in companies which provide medical care for wounded service members. The quality of that care has been called into question in recent months.

"Feinstein abandoned MILCON as her ethical problems were surfacing in the media, and as it was becoming clear that her subcommittee left grievously wounded veterans to rot while her family was profiting from the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. It turns out that Blum also holds large investments in companies that were selling medical equipment and supplies and real estate leases ? often without the benefit of competitive bidding ? to the Department of Veterans Affairs, even as the system of medical care for veterans collapsed on his wife's watch."

Alright, at this point, the observant reader will have noted that this is neither breaking news, an exclusive, nor a recent report. Nor is it news that Senator Diane Feinstein is sleeping with her husband, Richard Blum.

However, the salacious nature of the headline, and the suggestion of impropriety is every bit as valid as the charges leveled at Senator John McCain – if not more so, since the evidence against Senator Feinstein is actually proven, and on the record – and not merely innuendo and unsupported anonymous sources.

If Senate Feistein is sleeping with her HUSBAND? Why would you have name this article 'The Senator Was Sleeping With The Lobbyist'? And why not state that fact until the end of the article, knowing that your readers will not read the entire article? I know John McCain is accused of close ties with lobbyists, but to look for other senators, and write an article like this is no where close to what the NY Times did. Besides, do you want Americans imaging Feinstein sleeping with someone? I guess it's true: not everyone can, and should be journalists.

I read the whole article, which means you should reevaluate the readers of this blog, Z.

That's right; this is far more factual and honest than what the NY Times did, or is even capable of doing.

Congratulations! Most people would not take the time. But if you ever read a hit job by a "journalist", you just read one. If the NY times article was indeed false, the inuendo of cheating on his wife and giving preference to the clients of this lobbyist, shouldn't he be angrier? I know he's up there in age also, but he also should not be contradicted by the clients of this lobbyist. There is more to the McCain story than what's being let on. Also, he had prior knowledge about the article, so he should have gotten in front of the story in stead of now reacting to it. This is being poorly mismanaged by his campaign.

As for Feistein, for this 'reporter' to suggest that she is sleeping around with a lobbyist is just deceitful! Now granted, I don't think she should have any dealings with her husband's business while it's in front of Congress. She should recuse herself whenever his business is up for discussion. This article was a hit job. If your wife is a nurse, the headline would read: "Russet Shadows is sleeping with nurse!" Knowing that the person who you are accused of sleeping with is a nurse is very pertinent information that can clear up any perceptions. I guess mine's would read: "Zfranks sleeps with student!" Would you need to know that my wife is in college? I certainly think that would clear up many things! Don't you?

You guys really are a bunch of goofballs. Hinze, you should go back to your illustrious career as editor of a local rec. league sports periodical. You're probably just great at that, buddy!
