Rock Hill, S.C. - I attended a Fred Thompson for President bus tour rally at the Golden Corral restaurant on N. Anderson Road today. A large crowd formed a line at the door awaiting entrance at 11 am, when the doors open for lunch, with the former Tennessee senator and Law and Order TV star scheduled to arrive at Noon.
While waiting in line, I observed a very good looking woman exit an SUV that had just pulled up. She was carrying a camera and microphone as she walked across the parking lot obviously studying the people in line for a person to interview.
The person standing next to me was positioned in front of the bumper of a car that had pulled too far into its parking space. No other person was so positioned. The person next to me had obviously not shaven in days was fidgeting around in constant movement and was talking constantly to no particular person. No other persons in line were acting in this manner or looked like that had neglected their hygiene.
Yet, the lady whose camera had the number of a local TV station on it, contorted her body around the car bumper and interviewed this guy, who identified himself variously as a minister, pastor or preacher, without portfolio.
After a few open ended questions that led the conversation to the issue of illegal immigration, the lady (I will not flatter a drive-by msm hit job artist by characterizing her as a reporter or journalist) asked more specific questions about "immigration", seeming to purposefully leave off the word "illegal".
Thankfully, while the interviewee was obviously lacking in much formal education, he held his own and came off as a humble, patriotic American with more insight and compassion than most Harvard, Yale or whatever school this Femme Fatale got her worthless "journalism" degree from, alumni.
As the interview ended, I expected that she would interview others in the line, so I was quite surprised when she headed straight back to her SUV. I saw her drop her keys.
The doors were about to open for those, like me, seeking chow. I love to eat. I don't like to wait. But I simply could not let this drive-by hit on conservative republicans soon to be passed off as "news" on the broadcast airwaves of the Charlotte Metro Area, go unchallenged.
I left the line, approached the media assassin just before she entered her vehicle, introduced myself with a smile as a freelance columnist with publications in the Charlotte Observer, and then proceeded to let her have it.
I told her that we both knew what she just did; that what she just did is why her station's ratings are a mere fraction of what it was years ago; that what she did is why people have no respect for so-called journalists anymore, and that if she didn't put a Move-On.org leftie kook on the air, and only said kook, as representative of Democrats when covering the next Democratic candidate rally, I would write a story exposing her journalistic misdemeanor by name.
Inside the restaurant, I enjoyed a good meal; met many fine Fredhead conservatives; enjoyed the excitement as Fred entered the room; and got some bumper stickers and a yard sign all in front of other MSM employees whose drive-by hit would take place at their respective studios, where even if they drop their keys, they are in no risk of being called out on the spot by Mike DeVine aka Gamecock acting as Spiderman.
I am reminded of the movie "Compulsion" about the Leopold-Loeb murder case in which two rich kids performed a murder for sport. They were caught due to the discovery of a pair of glasses owned by one of the boys that was discovered at the scene of the crime.
They were represented at trial by the famous atheist lawyer, Clarence Darrow who charged no fee and kept them from being hanged with an eloquent argument made to judge rather than a jury.
Darrow admitted to doubts in his atheism when, while discussing how fortuitous it was that they were caught before they could kill again, wondered aloud: "Who was it that caused those glasses to fall from his pocket?"
Who was it that caused those keys to fall to the ground so that a drive-by assassin could be called out?
