But, Dr. Ahmadinejad - I Thought You Were Our Friend?

Dear H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,

"In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

O, Almighty God, bestow upon humanity the perfect human being promised to all by You, and make us among his followers." (Your words from your open letter to all "Noble Americans".)

Your letter of yesterday was both eloquent and humble. Within it's contents you mentioned, and I quote:

...American people not God-fearing, truth loving, and justice seeking...

And if we did not share a common responsibility to promote and protect freedom and human dignity and integrity...

While Divine providence has placed Iran and the United States geographically far apart, we should be cognizant that human values and our common human spirit, which proclaim the dignity and exalted worth of all human beings, have brought our two great nations of Iran and the United States closer together.

Both our nations are God-fearing, truth loving and justice seeking, and both seek dignity, respect and perfection.

Both greatly value and readily embrace the promotion of human ideals such as compassion, empathy, respect for the rights of human beings, securing justice and equity, and defending the innocent and the weak against oppressors and bullies.

We are all inclined towards the good, and towards extending a helping hand to one another, particularly to those in need.

We all deplore injustice, the trampling of peoples' rights and the intimidation and humiliation of human beings.

We all detest darkness, deceit, lies and distortion, and seek and admire salvation, enlightenment, sincerity and honesty.

The pure human essence of the two great nations of Iran and the United States testify to the veracity of these statements...

As mentioned, we have common concerns, face similar challenges, and are pained by the sufferings and afflictions in the world.

End Quote

I am asking for some clarification with some of the above statements, as they seem to contradict your [Iran's] actions.

In particular:

Both greatly value and readily embrace the promotion of human ideals such as compassion, empathy, respect for the rights of human beings, securing justice and equity, and defending the innocent and the weak against oppressors and bullies.

If there is any truth in what you say then can you explain this story in today's news cycle. Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia Please click the link sir, it will take you to the story. This seems to be the oppisite of what you said, you are in fact arming the bullies.

And I bring to your attention sir,

We all detest darkness, deceit, lies and distortion, and seek and admire salvation, enlightenment, sincerity and honesty.

If you detest deceit, lies and distortion, yet seek and admire salvation, enlightenment, sincerity and honesty, then can you explain this story sir; once again simply click on the link Government [Iranian] Wants All News Site Dealing With Iran Registered.

What could be more sincere and honest then your citizens expressing their viewpoints via the Internet?

And lastly sir, you said;

As mentioned, we have common concerns, face similar challenges, and are pained by the sufferings and afflictions in the world.

If you really mean this in your heart of hearts, then why continue your ambitions in the direction you are taking as reported in this story. Iran Says It Will Go on With Nuke Plans

A short note of explanation on these few points would be a good start. We can address other areas of concern as our new found communication continues.

All Of Your Prayres Worked - FrauBudgie is gettig BETTER!

Hey all,

Just an update on our beloved FrauBudgie, from her website by her husband "Professor Budgie"

Who says there is no GOD

Hi guys,

I'm so sorry to keep y'all in suspense ... is has been a bit hectic around the nest, of late.

In any case, after a week in ICU and a week more at home on IV meds (I learned a new talent, and the Frau finally pulled the dang thing out!), Fraubudgie is home and recovering.

She's getting stronger every day. Our first trip up the stairs took over half an hour. Now, she's navigating herself up or down in a minute or two (although once a day is enough). And we've managed a walk down to the beach!

Frau's getting her thoughts together, and finding a few words that seem to have gotten lost. Fortunately, most of them stuck around.

Her joke today (while watching Bloomberg): "Now, there's a quote for Lean Hogs. Why don't they have a quote for fat hogs, or even average hogs? How about bacon?"

We've a lot for which to be thankful, this season. Not just our country's excellent medical system, but especially the thoughts and prayers of all you good and concerned friends. Please keep it up. Our prayers really are working.

HotChick budgie will be making the pralines for her first time Thanksgiving. YoungRooster budgie will be home from school for the weekend, to help with the eating. And I'll be cooking cousin BigBird with all the trimmings.

Many thanks and blessings to all,
--Professor Budgie

Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia - Smoking-Gun Evidence officials say!

Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia

U.S. officials say they have found smoking-gun evidence of Iranian support for terrorists in Iraq: brand-new weapons fresh from Iranian factories. According to a senior defense official, coalition forces have recently seized Iranian-made weapons and munitions that bear manufacturing dates in 2006.

This suggests, say the sources, that the material is going directly from Iranian factories to Shia militias, rather than taking a roundabout path through the black market. "There is no way this could be done without (Iranian) government approval," says a senior official.

Iranian-made munitions found in Iraq include advanced IEDs designed to pierce armor and anti-tank weapons. U.S. intelligence believes the weapons have been supplied to Iraq's growing Shia militias from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, which is also believed to be training Iraqi militia fighters in Iran.

Evidence is mounting, too, that the most powerful militia in Iraq, Moktada al-Sadr's Mahdi army, is receiving training support from the Iranian-backed terrorists of Hezbollah.

Two senior U.S. defense officials confirmed to ABC News earlier reports that fighters from the Mahdi army have traveled to Lebanon to receive training from Hezbollah.

    Britain: Sharia law is Spreading!

Sharia law is spreading as authority wanes

Islamic sharia law is gaining an increasing foothold in parts of Britain, a report claims.

Sharia, derived from several sources including the Koran, is applied to varying degrees in predominantly Muslim countries but it has no binding status in Britain.

However, the BBC Radio 4 programme Law in Action produced evidence yesterday that it was being used by some Muslims as an alternative to English criminal law. Aydarus Yusuf, 29, a youth worker from Somalia, recalled a stabbing case that was decided by an unofficial Somali "court" sitting in Woolwich, south-east London.

Mr Yusuf said a group of Somali youths were arrested on suspicion of stabbing another Somali teenager. The victim's family told the police it would be settled out of court and the suspects were released on bail.

A hearing was convened and elders ordered the assailants to compensate their victim. "All their uncles and their fathers were there," said Mr Yusuf. "So they all put something towards that and apologised for the wrongdoing."

Although Scotland Yard had no information about that case yesterday, a spokesman said it was common for the police not to proceed with assault cases if the victims decided not to press charges.

To some this might seem like small potatoes, on it face, but as some people in our country, namely Supreme Court Justices and the far left, continue to look to international law for guidance instead of sticking to what I view as the best system of law in the world, it should at least perk your interest! This is something we here in America need to watch very closely...

    Ahmadinejad Sends Us A Letter

Iran's President has sent the American people a letter, due to be released at the United Nations later today.

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written a letter to the American people that will be released at U.N. headquarters in New York today, a state newspaper reported.

The newspaper gave no details of the letter, an apparent attempt by the firebrand president to reach out to Americans over the head of their government.

The state-run newspaper Iran reported the letter in bold type on its front page, saying "the five-page letter to the American people will be released by Iran's representative at the United Nations today."

IRAQ - HAVE DEMOCRATS BEEN BOXED IN A CORNER?

Have the Democrats boxed themselves in a corner over Iraq ? In a few weeks Democrats will become the majority on Capitol Hill. Iraq has moved back to the forefront in the news with the increase in sectarian violence and the trip by President Bush to meet with Iraq's leader in Jordan in order to address the situation. This combined with the anticipated report by the Baker Commission has put Iraq back in the headlines and this time with more than the usual media body count. A re-evaluation of US policy concerning Iraq is also taking place and as Democrats approach the day when they take over as majority, they have been unusually quiet over Iraq. During the campaign they made it painfully obvious that pulling out of Iraq quickly was a priority in their agenda. Immediately after the election this began to fade slowly from pulling out within six months to a fazed pull out to a wait and see attitude after the Baker report and the confirmation of the new Defense Secretary. It was widely reported that the election was a referendum on Iraq and that the Democrats had a mandate by the voters to push their Iraq policy of a quick pull out. Now the Dems seem to be backing away from this idea as the time for the new Congress draws closer.

Personally I believe that as the reality of the election results which were a backlash toward the GOP and not a mandate for the Democrats began to sink in, the Dems realized that though our presence in Iraq is not very popular the majority of the country does not want a quick pull out because Americans as a whole understand what is at stake if we were to just leave. As Dems began polling and finding the true opinion of Americans on Iraq they began redefining their position. This is how they find themselves in a dilemma and backed into a corner. While the majority of voters voted against the GOP and hold the above stated position on Iraq, voters on the left and the hard core Democrat supporters did vote because of Iraq and the campaign promises of a quick pull out and expect the new leadership to follow through on that promise. The pressure from the liberal core of the party will be enormous. The media pressure also will weigh in heavy against this redefinition of policy by Democrats as evidenced by NBC news stating yesterday that they would refer to Iraq now as a civil war and no longer as sectarian violence which is believed by many as a move to change public opinion toward US pull out in much the same way that Walter Cronkite's announcement that we were losing the war in Vietnam changed public opinion toward that war. There has also been a marked voice in the media of lowered expectations toward Iraq policy by Democrats which looks like an attempt to get them off the hook for their all or nothing campaign promises of immediate pull out. Shortly after the election former South Dakota and 1972 Democrat Presidential candidate George McGovern was brought in as an advisor on Iraq policy. He stated at the time that if Democrats did not push for a pull out of Iraq by June of 07 they would not, "be in the majority very long." Democrats now find themselves in a very precarious situation as it pertains to Iraq. Do they satisfy the majority of the American people and work with the President to seek a solution to Iraq while keeping US troops in the theatre to help stem the violence or do they bow to the core of their party and media pressure and push for a quick pull out ? Do they work in their leadership position to find the best solution for the good of the country and our interests in the region or do they fulfill their campaign promises and satisfy their voting blocks and liberal supporters and cut and run? The first 100 days should be very interesting!!

    Palestinian grandmother blew herself up???

"'I don't want anything, only to die a martyr."

A Palestinian grandmother blew herself up in the Gaza Strip, lightly wounding three Israeli soldiers, in the first suicide attack claimed by Hamas in almost two years.

The mother of nine and grandmother of 41 became the oldest Palestinian suicide bomber at the age of 57, approaching troops operating to curb daily rocket attacks, the army said.

"Troops saw a woman approaching them in a suspicious manner and identified her carrying an explosive device," a spokeswoman said of the incident in the northern town of Jabaliya.

"They then threw a stun grenade in her direction but she managed to blow herself up," the spokeswoman said, adding that three soldiers were lightly hurt.

Within minutes the armed wing of the Hamas claimed the bombing. This was the Islamist group's first suicide attack since January 2005, when a bomber wounded seven Israeli soldiers in Gaza.

"The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades claims the martyr operation carried out by Fatima Omar Mahmud al-Najar, aged 57, in the middle of a group of Zionist soldiers," an online statement said.

The bloody operation came two weeks after the radical faction threatened to resume suicide bombings in response to a botched Israeli shelling in the Gaza town of Beit Hanun that left 19 Palestinians, mostly women and children, dead.

Another seven Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the northern part of the volatile territory Thursday, as Gaza militants launched seven rockets into the Jewish state, one of which struck a house in a southern kibbutz.

Relatives said Najar had seven sons and two daughters, plus some 41 grandchildren, and that they were proud of her "martyrdom", which daughter Azhar said was a direct response to the Beit Hanun shelling.

"She did this operation in response to the Beit Hanun massacre. She was very moved by what happened," said Azhar, speaking from home in Jabaliya where relatives came to congratulate Najar's nearest and dearest.

Azhar also said her mother had taken part in a daring rescue operation, staged by Palestinian mothers and wives, who acted as human shields to free more than a dozen gunmen holed up in a Beit Hanun mosque on November 3.

Zuheir, Najar's 20-year-old son, told AFP from the family home: "We are really happy. It's a big operation. She told us last night that she would do a suicide operation. She prepared her clothes for that operation and we are proud.

"'I don't want anything, only to die a martyr." That's what she said."

All I can say is:

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.

Amen.

The meaning of Thanksgiving is so precious to me/us... Looking around the world at the tumultuous times, nothing rings more true than... THANKS!!! God bless you all...

al-Qaeda Claims America is Iranian Agent

Iraqi al-Qaeda chief Abu Hamza al-Muhajir has issued a warning against the "Persian Empire, blasted Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah by calling him an agent of the anti-Christ and a pretender.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

In a statement released by al-Qaeda's al-Furqan Foundation, al-Muhajir has declared an Islamic State in Iraq, accused the United States of beign an agent of Iran and fighting thier wars for free, increasingly hostile anti-Iranian rhetoric and a call to al-Qaeda within Lebanon to rise up against the Hizbullah.

On November 17, Sunni al-Qaeda members called on all Lebanese Sunnis to prepare for an imminent confrontation. The announcement was launched on an al-Qaeda-owned website in Iraq and was published by none other then the Associated French Press.

A qoute from the article reads:

"Hizbullah is a party. In addition to having Iranian tendencies, basis, and support, it doesn’t hide its loyalty to the Syrian regime."

"We call on our people in Lebanon to face this bitter truth with courage and to tackle this hatred by preparing for a confrontation. We won’t let them (Shiites) implement their evil wishes after they succeeded in allowing an international force enter as a buffer between us and Palestine."

Quoted elsewhere:

The announcement even contained criticism of Hizbullah’s leaders’ political conduct and emphasized that “today they want to control all of Lebanon through an alliance with the crusaders and to eliminate the Sunni group completely. They should know we are prepared to fight them. It would be a war and we would be stronger than them.”

This was not the first time that Sunnis in Lebanon have expressed harsh sentiments towards Hizbullah. The Lebanese Mufti Sheik Muhammad Ali Al-Gozu declared that Nasrallah and his organization were working towards a revolution in Lebanon.

“Why does the minority want to force itself on the majority? Why does that minority wish to undermine the functioning of the majority? Who is behind factional plans presented as national ones, while at the same time turning the tables on everyone in order to provoke confusion and chaos in the country,” the sheikh asked.

All of this seems to be amied at increasing tension between Sunnis and Shiites, a century old conflict that shows no sign of relenting. He wants to let the Shiites know that they (al-Qaeda) are ready to fight them and prays to Allah to let there be war.

In this excert from the translated rhetoric al-Muhajir said:

"In a long waited step, for which sacrifices were granted and martyrs bloods were shed to achieve its path; the Mujahideen Shura Council in Iraq has announced the establishment of the 'Islamic State of Iraq,' the state of Islam that will rule the law of Allah on people and lands, that will protect the core (center) of Islam and acts as a solid shield for the Sunni people on the land of Iraq."

It appears to me that many desire a civil war in Lebanon, albeit with different outcomes in mind. Iran would love to have Syria in control, al-Qaeda would love to have the Sunni's win, etc.

No matter what the outcome, all feel that it would lead them one step closer to the end of Israel. What I see as a major fault in this line of reasoning is that none of the players vying for a win in Lebanon have given any consideration to the strength of Israel! They all assume that it would be a foregone conclusion that controlling Lebanon would be their key to the defeat of Israel, a fatal calculation to be sure.

Syrian Interference In Lebanon, or Jewish Cunning?

Once again the twists and turns of the conflicts in the Mideast border on the absurd. As the Lebanese people prepare to bury the body of Pierre Gemayel, the target of assassination on November 21st; the pro-Syrian anti-Israel world press gears up to attempt to deflect suspicion away from Damascus.

No less than six prominent Lebanese leaders, opposed to the Syrian occupation and influence in Lebanon, have met assassination in past years. In fact, Belgian judge, Serge Brammerz heads a commission that is expected to issue a report within the month that will hopefully shed light on the Febuary 2005 murder of Rafiq Hariri, a leading opponent, at the time of Syrian involvement in Lebanon.

Not surprisingly, this commission is expected to find the fingerprints of Syria and Hizbollah all over the assassination. Enter, then, the alternative press! The pro-Muslim world press is eager to provide a conspiracy worthy of Oliver Stone.

IT WAS THE JEWS! Who else?
There is an alternative theory, which is equally plausible, in which the more likely culprits are Israel and its local agents. Those who advance it ask who benefits from the crime. Certainly not Syria and its Hizbullah allies who, to their great embarrassment, now find themselves denounced once again as criminals before world public opinion.

This accusation of a new heinous murder comes just at a time when Syria was on the point of re-engaging with Europe and the United States and when Hizbullah was hoping to reap political rewards from its stalwart resistance to Israel during last summer’s war.

That’s right! Confronted with the possibility of a government in Lebanon that would be less hostile to Israel; a government that might actually root out the Hizbollah terrorists along its southern border, and confront Syria about it’s interference in Lebanon; instead, Israel chose to assassinate that friend! They did this, of course, in the interest of keeping the Hizbollah murderers at their throats. Oh, those cunning Jews!
Damascus stressed that the timing of Gemayel's murder, on the day the United Nations endorsed a blueprint for a tribunal to try suspects in the 2005 murder of Hariri, was designed to cause it maximum damage.

The governing anti-Syrian camp in Beirut, faced with a growing challenge from Hezbollah since its war with Israel, is the only party which stands to gain from the minister's assassination, the official press in Damascus argued.

“The official press in Damascus!” The only press, I might add, that will be allowed the people of Syria. The only view, I might add, allowed the people of Iran, Syria’s puppet master. The only press heard by millions of Muslim peoples throughout the world.

The anti-Israel British press is complicit in this lie as well. One has to little wonder where this irrational hatred starts. The question that comes to MY mind is, “where will it end?”

"We Must Bomb Iran" - Joshua Muravchik at the AEI

I can add nothing to this article, as it speaks my mind exactly, therefore I'll simply bring it to your attention.

Diplomacy is doing nothing to stop the Iranian nuclear threat; a show of force is the only answer.

By Joshua Muravchik, JOSHUA MURAVCHIK is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.
November 19, 2006

WE MUST bomb Iran.

It has been four years since that country's secret nuclear program was brought to light, and the path of diplomacy and sanctions has led nowhere.

First, we agreed to our allies' requests that we offer Tehran a string of concessions, which it spurned. Then, Britain, France and Germany wanted to impose a batch of extremely weak sanctions. For instance, Iranians known to be involved in nuclear activities would have been barred from foreign travel — except for humanitarian or religious reasons — and outside countries would have been required to refrain from aiding some, but not all, Iranian nuclear projects.

A Thanksgiving Thank You To Our Troops

I may be a day or two early with this tribute, but most of our men and women in harms way are nearly a day ahead of us time zone wise.

Thanksgiving is a day we all sit down at the family table and give thanks for the bounty that we have and our freedom to enjoy it. We gorge ourselves on turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings and I know our troops overseas will be having turkey too. I remember when I was afar in the military, our respective branches went to the limit to make sure we all got a hot turkey dinner on this very special day.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It was a great feeling, knowing that the family was safe and sound back home, sitting around the table passing a dish of this or that and laughing, eating drinking and giving thanks. What made that feeling so great was that I knew they were safe from harms way.

I thank all of those that are serving in the military this Holiday keeping all of us safe back here in the United States of America. And I especially want to thank the Airman that has taken my place, whomever he/she is.

I spent 8 of these Holidays away from home, and I never regretted missing one of them with my family. I know in my heart of hearts the young men and women that will be away from home this Holiday DO NOT regret missing theirs either. Sure, they'll be lonely and miss their wife, kids, Mother and Father, brothers and sisters, girlfriend or fiancé.

Guys and Gals of the Military, know this: When you get back home to your loved ones and you have your first Thanksgiving dinner back with your family, that will be the best turkey dinner you will ever sit down to. It'll be the sweetest, most tasty turkey you have ever had, and do you know why? Because, like myself, you will be secure that there is someone just a good, just as proud and just as dedicated to freedom as you are.

God Bless you all for preserving the freedom that we all enjoy.

Hand Salute!

IRAQ AND SYRIA RESTORE DIPLOMATIC TIES

The governments of Iraq and Syria have signed an agreement restoring diplomatic ties after twenty four years of broken relations between the two countries. Many see this as a breakthrough and a possibility of quelling the violence that has been troubling Iraq and especially the entrance of fighters from the two neighboring countries of Iran and Syria. From a strictly diplomatic stand point this on the surface looks like the major breakthrough that Iraq has been seeking as they work to build a Democracy and allow their citizens the protection and security that any country would want yet has evaded Iraq because of terrorism and sectarian violence. The problem as is well known stems from the participation of both Iran and Syria in supplying arms and personnel to continue the fight against a free Iraq. So again on the surface this looks to be a breakthrough in ending the insurgency and insuring a free Iraq. Beneath the surface there are several questions concerning the true intentions of Syria and Iran. I mention both together even though the agreement was with Syria since it is also well known that the two countries work in conjunction with each other so this agreement was not without the consent of Iran.

Question number one - is Syria serious about becoming a partner in a Democratized Iraq ? Democracy is a far cry from what the Syrian government offers to their own citizens and they have also shown that it is a form of government that they do not desire in the region. Evidence this by their continued involvement in Lebanon. Inspite of an elected government in the country Syria has undermined through Hezbollah the overtures for Democracy in Lebanon and caused the current government to collapse. Why would one think that they have different intentions and design for Iraq ?

Question number two - as a new partner will Syria stop the flow of 50-75 new insurgency fighters that enter Iraq each day seeking to destroy the fledgling Democracy ? Syria and Iran despite the fact that the entire world knows that they are behind much of the violence that is taking place in Iraq and calls by The United States and other countries for their involvement to end continue to pour fighters, weapons and financing into the insurgency. If Syria is serious about becoming a partner in the new and Democratized Iraq then they must show a willingness by stopping the flow of insurgency from their borders.

Question number three - is Syria sincere or is this another ploy by Syria with the backing of Iran to deceive Iraq into a false sense of security with her neighbors to give them opportunity to make a move in over throwing the Democracy of Iraq ? Both countries have a history of using diplomatic means as a ploy of deception to allow time to develop weaponry, military strategy or just to bring a false sense of security in order to allow Iran and Syria to make a move against those with whom they are sending diplomatic signals. Iran is using a similar strategy in the current nuclear situation in order to continue unabatedly to develop their nuclear program. Why would either country who have been proven untrustworthy in the past change their stripes now to create a diplomatic and peaceful relation with a Democratized Iraq ?

Question number four - is Iraq and the coalition so tired of the situation in Iraq that they are willing to accept this agreement with Syria at face value and not with a great deal of apprehensiveness and caution ? To be quelled into a false sense of security with Syria and Iran especially with the deceptive history of both countries would spell disaster for Iraq and all possibilities for the full establishment of the Democratized government and stability in the country.

Iran and Syria have proven that they are countries that cannot be trusted. Signing a diplomatic agreement to restore relations with Syria is a good step but this new found, "partnership, " should be watched as a soldier would watch as he tries to sleep on a battlefield, with one eye open and weapon at the ready and his buddy standing guard.

Ahmadinejad Says Iran Needs 100,000 Centrifuges for Nuke Program

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Dispite conflicting reports, this article seems to settle the debate. Recently ABC reported that Ahmadinejad ONLY wanted 60,000 dispite other news sources reporting that he wanted 100,000. Is ABC trying to "make nice" with Iran?

People's Daily Online
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that his country wants to have 100,000 centrifuges for enriching uranium, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported.

"We intend to have 100,000 centrifuges and, God willing, Iran will be able to meet its needs in nuclear fuel by next year," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.

The Iranian president said last week that Iran intended to launch 60,000 centrifuges in its nuclear program.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Iran has so far built two cascades of 164 centrifuges each for uranium enrichment, which can be used to make nuclear fuel or, in much higher grades, the core of an atom bomb.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini confirmed earlier this month Iran's plan to install 3,000 centrifuges for uranium enrichment by March 2007.

Ahmadinejad says Israel incapable of striking Iran

Iran, still thumbing it’s nose at the world, continues to enrich uranium and aspperantly feels no pressure to stop!

Iran to Use 100,000 Centrifuges in Nuclear Program

Iran plans to use 100,000 centrifuges to enrich uranium as part of its nuclear program, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said today.

Iran ``aims to have 100,000 centrifuges,'' the state-run Iranian Students News Agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. ``God willing, Iran will meet its nuclear fuel needs by next year.''

Ahmadinejad announced last week that Iran was planning to install up to 60,000 centrifuges, Agence France-Presse reported. The devices produce concentrated uranium, which can be used in nuclear reactors or weapons.

The U.S. suspects that the Iranian drive to produce enriched uranium is a precursor to building a bomb, in contravention of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, to which Iran is a signatory. Iran says the fuel is needed to generate electricity. The United Nations Security Council in July ordered Iran to stop enrichment, a request ignored by the oil-rich country.

Ahmadinejad, speaking during a visit to the Tehran offices of state-run television, dismissed reports of possible Israeli strikes against Iran as ``media warfare,'' ISNA reported.

``The Israeli regime will presently not attack Iran because it faces many problems'' and is currently ``weak,'' said Ahmadinejad, pronounced ah-ma-deen-ah-ZHAD.

The Iranian president has called for Israel's destruction and expressed doubts about the scope of the World War II Holocaust.

Keep underestimating Israel and your bound to get stung!

HONORED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE TEAM

I have been given the honor of contributing to this blog by two of its members Gordon and Jean Taylor, (no relation). It is my privilege to participate in this conservative venture to share conservative views on today's most pressing issues. In introducing myself I am first a Reagan Conservative. Though I am and have been a card carrying member of the Republican Party since 1976, my first loyalty in politics or in my views both personal, moral and toward issues that face this country is a conservative view point. I readily criticize the GOP when they fall from the conservatism that is the core of the party, for instance their recent big government approach and the rampant spending that in a very real sense is one of the main reasons they find themselves in the minority after the recent election. As an eternal optimist though with the problems that face us and the issues that try the very core of this nation I still believe that America, "the shining city on the hill, " as President Reagan so rightfully put it, is and will always be the last best hope for the world as liberty and freedom shine from this nation , "of the people, by the people and for the people." This nation founded on the principles of freedom and the God given right for man to decide and control his own destiny without the oppression of government or the tyranny of a dictator forcing his will upon the people is the only ray of sunlight on the face of the earth which still gives her citizens these unalienable rights without regard to race, creed or the abilities and means of our ancestors. We have no monarchy or privileged class just a nation of individuals who because of the liberty that is given to us by law have the same freedom as our neighbor to prosper and achieve as our desire warrants it. This is the essence of America, this is why we are the most prosperous and powerful nation that has ever existed. This is why our brave men and women in uniform have fought and died to preserve this nation and the freedoms that she offers. This is why today we fight against Islamic radicals who desire to destroy and end the very freedoms that make this nation what it is. This is why I began blogging at The Liberal Lie, The Conservative Truth in 2004 so that through the right we have as Americans of free speech I could express my views and my belief in this wonderful land we call home. That is a philosophy that I will continue here at Conservative News and Views and look forward to working with the fine Americans who contribute to this expression of freedom.

    The Jarring Gong of Self-Preservation

Want of foresight, unwillingness to act when action would be simple and effective, lack of clear thinking, confusion of counsel until the emergency comes, until self-preservation strikes its jarring gong—these are the features which constitute the endless repetition of history.
-Winston Churchill

winston churchill

The words that Winston Churchill spoke above were to the British Parliament in 1936. The menace he saw looming on the horizon, a menace that the World was loath to confront, was the rise in Germany of Adolf Hitler. In Hitler, he saw a men bent upon world domination. he was a man determined to stretch his evil hand across Europe, to subjegate any peoples who opposed him, through military force.

How did Churchill know that this was Hitler's plan? Because Hitler told the World what he intended to do with his 1925 biography, Mein Kampf.

"...it [Nazi philosophy] by no means believes in an equality of races, but along with their difference it recognizes their higher or lesser value and feels itself obligated to promote the victory of the better and stronger, and demand the subordination of the inferior and weaker in accordance with the eternal will that dominates this universe." - Hitler states in Mein Kampf.

Mein Kampf also provides an explanation for the military conquests later attempted by Hitler and the Germans. Hitler states that since the Aryans are the master race, they are entitled simply by that fact to acquire more land for themselves. This Lebensraum, or living space, will be acquired by force, Hitler says, and includes the lands to the east of Germany, namely Russia. That land would be used to cultivate food and to provide room for the expanding Aryan population at the expense of the Slavic peoples, who were to be removed, eliminated, or enslaved.

It is interesting to note that the name of his biography, Mein Kampf, translates into English as, "My struggle." It is of further note, that the tool by which radical Islam attempts its World domination, Jihad also translates into English as, "My struggle." Is this a coincidence? Hardly! It is because of this "coincidence" of World views that many of us choose to call the people we fight today by their real name, Islamofascists!

Although the struggle between Islam and Christendom has been going on for fourteen centuries, the roots of the current conflict can be traced to the Second World War. Note, if you will, that I identified the two antagonists as Islam, a religion, and Christendom, a secular entity or entities. Christendom to most of the Muslim world has always meant Europe, although in this century it includes America and its allies.

It is important to see the difference in philosophies here. We, in the West do not view our nations in terms of a religion. The militant Islamofascists do! The battle, in the minds of our enemies is entirely rooted in religion. First, let us explore a little history of the struggle.

In The Roots of Muslim Rage, Bernard Lewis, one of the Worlds foremost scholars on Islam, has this to say:

Like every other civilization known to human history, the Muslim world in its heyday saw itself as the center of truth and enlightenment, surrounded by infidel barbarians whom it would in due course enlighten and civilize.

This attitude is, of course, not confined to the Muslim world. Throughout human history, conquerors have used this view to excuse their conquests. The West is just as guilty of this as any other peoples. The difficulty for many of us today is in grasping the fact that many of our enemies are fighting a battle we thought settled centuries ago.

The struggle between these rival systems has now lasted for some fourteen centuries. It began with the advent of Islam, in the seventh century, and has continued virtually to the present day. It has consisted of a long series of attacks and counterattacks, jihads and crusades, conquests and reconquests. For the first thousand years Islam was advancing, Christendom in retreat and under threat. The new faith conquered the old Christian lands of the Levant and North Africa, and invaded Europe, ruling for a while in Sicily, Spain, Portugal, and even parts of France. The attempt by the Crusaders to recover the lost lands of Christendom in the east was held and thrown back, and even the Muslims' loss of southwestern Europe to the Reconquista was amply compensated by the Islamic advance into southeastern Europe, which twice reached as far as Vienna. For the past three hundred years, since the failure of the second Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683 and the rise of the European colonial empires in Asia and Africa, Islam has been on the defensive, and the Christian and post-Christian civilization of Europe and her daughters has brought the whole world, including Islam, within its orbit.

It is difficult, as I have said, for many of us to think in terms of a fourteen hundred year war. This is not so for the Islamofascists.
Jihad is a central duty of every Muslim. Modern Muslim theologians have spoken of many things as jihads: the struggle within the soul, defending the faith from critics, supporting its growth and defense financially, even migrating to non-Muslim lands for the purpose of spreading Islam. But violent jihad is a constant of Islamic history. Many passages of the Qur'an and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad are used by jihad warriors today to justify their actions and gain new recruits. No major Muslim group has ever repudiated the doctrines of armed jihad. The theology of jihad, which denies unbelievers equality of human rights and dignity, is available today for anyone with the will and means to bring it to life. (emphasis mine)
It is important to note that emphasis! Moderate Muslims have not repudiated the doctrines espoused by the radical Islamofascists. Until Muslims worldwide acknowledge the dangers that radical Islamofacism poses both to themselves and to the West, this armed conflict will continue to recruit new fanatics from their ranks.
Let us return now to the modern struggle. For the most part, little or nothing was known about America in the Mideast until oil was discovered on the Arabian Peninsula in the mid-1920s. American oil companies made deals with the ruling tribes, the House of Saud, to extract that oil. Many Muslims saw this as an unwelcome intrusion into their culture, even as American money allowed the rulers to acquire luxuries and comforts never before known in that part of the world.
The influence of Nazi theocracy to the Mideast came about with the collapse of the French Government during World War II. A puppet French Government was set up by the Nazis in Vichy, France. French colonies throughout the world, particularly those in the Middle East were given the choice of recognizing the Vicky Government, and their Nazi overlords, or being attacked by the German Army. Most chose Vichy. With the Nazi occupation of Mideast came the Nazi doctrine of Jewish cunning and American imperialism.
This doctrine fell on fertile ears among the Muslim populations.
In this perception, America was the ultimate example of civilization without culture: rich and comfortable, materially advanced but soulless and artificial; assembled or at best constructed, not grown; mechanical, not organic; technologically complex but lacking the spirituality and vitality of the rooted, human, national cultures of the Germans and other "authentic" peoples. German philosophy, and particularly the philosophy of education, enjoyed a considerable vogue among Arab and some other Muslim intellectuals in the thirties and early forties, and this philosophic anti-Americanism was part of the message.
And, of course the cause of all misery within the Muslim lands, was the Jews. Jewish people from all across Europe had been emigrating from their homelands to the holy lands in increasing numbers since the late 1800s. Interestingly enough, for the most part, the Jews and Muslims had been living side-by-side in relative peace throughout that time. It was with the influence of Nazi theory during their occupation of the area that brought about the schism between the two peoples that has stayed with us to this very day.
After the collapse of the Third Reich and the temporary ending of German influence, another philosophy, even more anti-American, took its place -- the Soviet version of Marxism, with a denunciation of Western capitalism and of America as its most advanced and dangerous embodiment. And when Soviet influence began to fade, there was yet another to take its place, or at least to supplement its working -- the new mystique of Third Worldism, emanating from Western Europe, particularly France, and later also from the United States, and drawing at times on both these earlier philosophies. This mystique was helped by the universal human tendency to invent a golden age in the past, and the specifically European propensity to locate it elsewhere. A new variant of the old golden-age myth placed it in the Third World, where the innocence of the non-Western Adam and Eve was ruined by the Western serpent.
Again, this new philosophy blamed the West, and particularly America for all the ills befalling the Muslim people. It has been to the benefit of the despots who have ruled these nation states to foster this hatred. By focusing the attention on the West, and away from their own policies of subjugating their peoples, they maintain their tyrannical rule.
And, of course, the West has been a willing accomplice in this charade, with its self-loathing brought about by liberal ideologies. The “Blame America First” crowd has aided and abetted our enemies throughout the past century and into this new one.
We of the West are accused of sexism, racism, and imperialism, institutionalized in patriarchy and slavery, tyranny and exploitation. To these charges, and to others as heinous, we have no option but to plead guilty -- not as Americans, nor yet as Westerners, but simply as human beings, as members of the human race. In none of these sins are we the only sinners, and in some of them we are very far from being the worst. The treatment of women in the Western world, and more generally in Christendom, has always been unequal and often oppressive, but even at its worst it was rather better than the rule of polygamy and concubinage that has otherwise been the almost universal lot of womankind on this planet.
If the West once embraced slavery, it was the West that in fact, abolished that tradition. Slavery was once, after all a worldwide custom. It is now confined primarily in Muslim lands.

If the West once embraced Sexism, denying women the equality they deserve, it was the West that brought about universal suffrage, and equal rights laws. Nowhere are these rights less obvious than in Islamic law.

If the West could once be accused of Imperialism, is there any portion of the world that is not so guilty? It has been the West, after all, which has led the fight, albeit sometimes under duress, to end colonialism and imperialistic encroachments. The same cannot be said of the militaristic imperialism of worldwide Communism or radical Islam. It is, in fact, the imperialist domination sought by Islamofascism that we fight today.

Imperialism, in its generally accepted definition, is different than what is meant by our enemies in radical Islam.
. But the way this term is used in the literature of Islamic fundamentalists often suggests that it may not carry quite the same meaning for them as for its Western critics. In many of these writings the term "imperialist" is given a distinctly religious significance, being used in association, and sometimes interchangeably, with "missionary," and denoting a form of attack that includes the Crusades as well as the modern colonial empires. One also sometimes gets the impression that the offense of imperialism is not -- as for Western critics -- the domination by one people over another but rather the allocation of roles in this relationship. What is truly evil and unacceptable is the domination of infidels over true believers. For true believers to rule misbelievers is proper and natural, since this provides for the maintenance of the holy law, and gives the misbelievers both the opportunity and the incentive to embrace the true faith. But for misbelievers to rule over true believers is blasphemous and unnatural, since it leads to the corruption of religion and morality in society, and to the flouting or even the abrogation of God's law.
The Islamofascists see the natural order to be that Islam reign supreme over all other religions throughout the world. In their world view, non-believers must be subjugated to Islam. There is no room in their world for any other religion but their own.

Many of our modern day appeasers would have us believe that we can compromise with the radicals. If we would just remove ourselves from the Mideast, they will leave us alone. If we simply stop our support for Israel the Islamofascists will stop hating us.

This is a simplistic view of history, myopic in its approach, and frighteningly dangerous in its implementation. Like Adolph Hitler during the 1930s, radical Islam has told us their plan. Like Europe of that same period, the world has chosen to appease.

When Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tells us his plan to bring about a worldwide Islamic Caliphate, and his intention to exterminate Israel and the Jews, we ignore his warning, believing instead that it is empty rhetoric.

When Evil speaks, it behooves us to listen!

    PUTIN'S COLD WAR

President Putin is the one to keep a close eye on, he continues to use Russian energy (most notably natural gas) as a political weapon to regain influence throughout Europe and the Middle East.

Notice how he’s stringently opposed to sanctioning Iran!

Putin (a throwback to soviet hardliners) continues to use sledgehammer diplomacy as he did with Ukraine to gobble up all of the natural gas fields he can get his hands on.

Not a true ally in my view!

I would be interested to know to what extent Putin has exerted his influence (behind the scenes) in the deals between India and Pakistan and the development of a natural gas pipeline! India optimistic about IPI gas pipeline: Deora

Watch for more on Putin and natural gas in the coming months and years...

    Tense Standoff in China

A breaking story out of China about a tense standoff is making some news reports around the world. Apparently this has been going on for about a week and has been reported for the last two days.

A Chinese village where at least three people were shot dead by police in 2005 during a land protest has again become the scene of angry unrest.

Residents of Dongzhou in southern Guangdong province are reported to have taken eight local officials hostage after a villager was detained.

Tensions mounted after police and anti-riot troops were deployed, residents told Reuters news agency.

The latest protest was sparked by the detention last week of villager Chen Qian, who was hanging up anti-corruption posters when he was taken into custody, according to Radio Free Asia.

"The villagers grabbed eight government officials and have kept them locked the temple for seven days," a Dongzhou resident told Reuters.

From The Standard - Hong Kong English Version

Dongzhou police and officials in Shanwei did not answer phone calls or comment.

Dongzhou gained notoriety in December last year after police and troops fired on locals in a violent standoff over the construction of a coal- fired power station.

Some reports at the time said dozens of protesters may have died, but the government said only three were killed - a number confirmed by residents, including kin of the dead.

Map Of Violence in China

Asia Times - Government officials were shocked when a traffic incident erupted into pitched street battles between majority Han Chinese and ethic Muslims in a small village in Henan, an impoverished province in east-central China. The government put the number of people killed at seven, with 42 injured. The New York Times, quoting unnamed local sources, said that some 148 people were killed in the disturbance, including 18 policemen.

The incident was just the latest in a string of protests that have taken place in recent weeks around China, and that have deeply worried central government leaders.

In October, as many as 50,000 demonstrators lined up in front of government offices in a small town in Sichuan province and set a police van on fire to protest the beating of a migrant worker, allegedly by a government official. Ten days later, in Hanyuan county, also in Sichuan, an estimated 100,000 farmers stormed a government building and battled police over land lost to a dam project and what they called inadequate compensation. Order was not restored until martial law was declared and paramilitary forces were scrambled to the scene.

And more...

Outlook Weekly, a Communist Party mouthpiece, reported recently that China experienced more than 58,000 major incidents of social unrest in 2003 - up 15% from a year earlier - with more than 3 million people taking part in the protests.

Yes, even more...

On October 29, hundreds of heavily equipped security forces imposed a curfew on university campuses in Inner Mongolia after a planned concert by a popular Mongolian rock band was canceled, according to the Southern Mongolian Human Rights Information Center in New York.

And when security guards this month stopped Uighur Muslims in Guangzhou selling fried mutton from a street mall, fighting erupted between riot police and angry Uighurs, leaving several people injured.

I'll ask the question forming in your head as you read this article, "Why aren't we hearing more about this unrest in China?" I thought this was the new land of milk and honey...and of course Walmart.

Controversial Assignment Leads To Teacher's Resignation

A Spanish teacher at Smithfield-Selma Senior High School resigned this week after handing out an assignment that some students and parents said teaches hate.

Khalid Chahhou, who was in his first year of teaching in Johnston County, gave students a worksheet in which they were to translate words and find them within a word-search puzzle.

Some students started uncovering strange words in the process.

"There were words like 'kill,' then I saw it said 'destroy America,'" Eric Herrera said.

As they read on, students found the puzzle contained a paragraph that contained the following phrases:

* "Sharon killed a lot of innocent people," a possible reference to former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

* "Palestine is not a terrorist group."

* "Allah help destroy this body of evil making humanity miserable."

"It was kind of scary at first to think about, you know, your own teacher in your own school that is teaching you," Herrera said.

School administrators said they confronted Chahhou about an unidentified concern Wednesday and he resigned.

"The situation surrounding the resignation has prompted us to call the proper authorities," said Crystal Roberts, the spokeswoman for Johnston County Schools.

The Johnston County Sheriff's Office reviewed the complaint, but investigators said they don't see any reason to file criminal charges or contact other agencies.

Chahhou, who also teaches Arabic at a religious school affiliated with the Islamic Association of Cary, told WRAL in a telephone interview that students got the wrong message from the assignment.

"When I made the assignment, I was upset and angry about a story I recently saw on the news. If any message appears, it is more of a message to myself, not to my students. I never meant to hurt or upset any students or parents," he said.

Israeli envoy walks out of U.N. session

from UPI

Israel's ambassador walked out on the United Nations session that resulted in a strong call to Israel to end its military operations in the Gaza Strip.

The 192-member General Assembly voted Friday night 156-7, with six abstentions, in favor of the non-binding resolution in an emergency special session.

The United States, Israel and Australia voted against the document, while all the European Union members supported it after last-minute changes were made to soften the tone.

Israeli Ambassador Dan Gillerman conducted a news conference nearby and blasted the session as a "farce" and a "circus," Ha'aretz reported Saturday.

U.S. Ambassador John Bolton called the resolution "one-sided" and said its adoption would only "increase tension and serve the interests of those hostile to Israel and that do not accept Israel's right to exist."

Palestinian U.N. observer Riyad Mansour said Israel had committed war crimes against Palestinian civilians in its nearly five-month offensive, which Israel says is aimed at stopping militants from firing rockets into its territory.

Good for you!!!

    Scarlet Fever Strikes North Korea

As though the world were not already a dangerous place, a new/old danger, disease is rearing its ugly head in North Korea. Several days ago I heard an Associated Press account, noting a Scarlet Fever epidemic emerging in that country. Strangely enough, I have noted almost no mention of it in the MSM since that time.
Scarlet fever has been spreading in North Korea and threatens to become a full-blown epidemic despite efforts by authorities to contain the disease, a news report said Wednesday.

It seems to me, that a pandemic in an already unstable regime that is at present seeking nuclear weapons is a story of international import. Apparently this is not the case, given the almost universal indifference the MSM has shown the story.

After that initial report, which I noted in passing, I have seen no follow up whatsoever by any American news organization. While we hear much about the Nuclear ambitions of North Korea, this has gone, for the most part, under the radar.

The International Press has given it some notice. It is time that we focused on the ramifications as well.
The disease has spread so quickly in the country because the immune systems of most North Koreans are weak and the country lacks adequate supplies of drugs.

Scarlet fever is a bacterial infection that produces a rash, sore throat and fever. Without the proper treatment with antibiotics, the disease could produce dangerous complications, especially in children, and could develop into rheumatic fever, which can cause damage to the heart and inflammation of the joints.
While I seriously doubt that disease will find its way into the inner circles of Kim Jong Il’s regime, this is just one more evidence of the plight of the North Korean people under the brutal boot of this tinpot dictator. I actually find it curious that the leftists in our nation have not seized upon this story to demonstrate how the failures of American policy are hurting the people.

For myself, the concern I have is that this demonstrates even more the failure of the North Korean regime to meet even the basic needs of its people. As the plight of the people become even more severe, I fear that regime will become even more desperate in their attempts to gain international prestige by rattling their saber, and creating chaos in this world through the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Though North Korea and its leader might be small in stature, like small men of the past, they seek to increase their own importance by dominating others. A desperate dictator is a dangerous dictator.

This is a story that bears watching!

North Korea Will Perfect The Bomb

Not that there was ever any doubt, but Hans Blix says that North Korea will perfect the nuclear bomb. A word of caution might be appropriate here, IMHO read North Korea as China, as I believe the PLA is still pulling the puppet strings of Kim Jong Il.

FoxNews.com
TOKYO — Former U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix said Friday that North Korea would one day master nuclear weapons technology despite its apparently less-than-successful atomic test, and he warned that the world must avoid striking a quick disarmament deal that lacks effective verification measures.

Blix said verification would be the key to ensuring compliance in any nuclear accord with Pyongyang, as the country returns to six-nation talks on its weapons program.

"I have no illusion it will be easy," he said.
